About Emma
I love working with students in a variety of areas. I believe everyone is capable of learning something if they put their mind to it. I teach by asking questions and love to see the development of a student. I've been a tutor for over 5 years and have worked with students of all ages in math, science, english, test prep, and more!
I love seeing students develop skills to be successful in their learning. It is so gratifying to know I'm helping students work towards their goals and find ways to be successful.
Teaching came so naturally to me througout my life. My mother is a teacher, so even as a young kid, I played school when I got home from school. I got my official start teaching when my mom opened her private school and offered to allow me to assistant teach an algebra class when I was in high school. I loved it and have been working with students ever since!
I've worked in a school environment in some capacity since I was 14 years old. As a high school student, I taught math at a private school. From there, into college and beyond, I have tutored in all sorts of subjects. Most recently, I worked for a virtual school as an advisor and fell in love with learning online.

I like to go over the information a student is struggling with first. I can create powerpoints, use videos, draw on the Zoom whiteboard, or whatever works for you to learn the material. I like to use diagrams, photos, and more to make learning fun! Once we've gone over the information, I can help answer questions, help you work through problems, and make sure that all the gaps are filled.
I have worked with students from pre-K all the way through college. I love to work with any age student.
Search for someone who will take your needs and learning preferences into account. It's super important that the tutor you find can teach in the way you learn.
I recently started working with a biology student and helped her to understand some very important cellular processes. After the session, I came across a fun cartoon of ATP and sent it to her. She wrote back completely understanding the cartoon and loved it! I helped shhow her how fun biology can be and also helped her understand the topic.
A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
I like to encourage students to identify the areas they need help and why. If you can pick out the particular pieces of a concept that are confusing you, you'll go to the teacher with better, more targeted questions, and therefore, get better answers!
