About Sperry

I enjoy tutoring Mathematics because the key to decoding the mystery of Mathematics is in the simplicity of the basic concepts. And everyone can understand them because we use them everyday. I've learned how to lock in to each person's method of learning. And that's when the treasure chest is opened and will not close ever again.

I enjoy the moment when each of my students figure out that Math is not mystical.... when they find out that it's simple steps and it Always follows certain rules and once you learn those rules, you will master Mathematics. I have never met a student that couldn't.

I have a degree in Mathematics and a minor in Engineering but my educational experience is only a small part of tutoring or teaching. There many people who have degrees but have no business teaching. A great teacher of tutor has to have great communication skills to transfer information to another person that meets their method of learning. I've been tutoring since college and have mastered the ability to transfer this knowledge in any situation.

About the lesson

My typical method of working with a student is to evaluate their skill level with Mathematics. Once I identify their skill level, determine their method of learning, whether they are visual, auditory, or need manipulatives to grasp a concept.

I have worked with students from every grade between 3rd Grade to Adults taking college courses.

My advice to a student looking for a teacher is to find a teacher that can effectively break down a concept in a way that you understand it. Find someone that avoids teaching shortcuts because shortcuts only work when the conditions are right. Find someone that teaches you the method that works in every situation even though it's more work but it will help you to apply the concepts in any form.
