About Benjamin
Hello!
My name is Ben Lederman and I am a student at Cornell University.
I am now offering online tutoring for anyone looking for help for an upcoming AP Exam, ACT/SAT, or just a particular subject. I also edit college essays!
I received 5s on all of my AP Exams and a 35 on the ACT. I also have lots of tutoring experience already. My approach is unique in that I really like to get to know the students I tutor. This way, I can know exactly what works best for them!

I started tutoring back in college to help my friends with their assignments. From there, I expanded to teaching many different students and now I am using the money to help pay for college!
I am pursuing my BA in Psychology from Cornell University along a pre-med track.
When I was in high school, I graduated with a 4.36 GPA, 35 on the ACT, and 800 on the SAT Math.

My process varies depending on what the student needs me (as a tutor) for.
For my ACT/SAT students, I like to have them start out with a "diagnostic" test, just so we have a baseline. From there, I personalize the lessons to get them ready for the exam.
For college essay students, I vary my approach depending on how much time we have. With more time, I start with a brainstorming session so that their essay targets exactly what the admissions officers are looking for. With less time, I dive right into a rough draft and work through the topic and grammar from there.
For my subject students, I start out helping them out based on what they are stuck on the first day. This open approach also lets me test out different strategies and stick with the one that works best for that student. AP Students will additionally work with a more structured schedule and practice tests.
If you are an acting student, welcome! I am so excited to work with you! I treat our sessions as a director and I particularly focus on vocal inflections and facial expressions. Students will send me videos of their performance that I will watch beforehand, and then we will workshop in our session.
I have worked with all types of students! Age-wise, my students tend to be in high school, but I also work with middle schoolers (or even younger by special request).
I would say look for the tutor that is going to be best for YOU. Find the person who will tailor each lesson to what you need most and care about you as a person, too!
A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
Think about exactly what you need help on. I am able to help you best if I know what you need even before the session starts.
Also think about where you are on your journey. Students each have their own path, and you need to know when (and if) you need a tutor along that path! I am happy to have an email conversation about that too, if interested!

Details
For most hour-long online sessions, I charge $35 per hour. Half-hour sessions are $20.
College essay sessions will cost a bit more so that I have the time to read through the student's essay for grammar and content. I do a VERY thorough read through! For these sessions, if I am receiving a new draft of the essay, there is an extra $25 (on top of normal hour or half-hour session prices) to read and edit before the session. If we are discussing a draft I have already read or just brainstorming, I charge the same as normal prices.
I am also happy to discuss discounts for students who want to prepay for a bunch of sessions.
