About Maya
I've been teaching for over 20 years and working with children for 30 years. I am excellent at simplifying difficult subjects & helping students to understand science & math subjects typically considered hard or overwhelming. I also believe in empowering students through arts education, having taught dance & music for 30 years as well. Success in areas outside of the typical educational avenues empowers students in the classroom!

I first I would get to know the areas where the student needs help. Then, I have a conversation with a student to get to know them & allow them to get to know me. I also use that time to begin to get an understanding of HOW they learn best and what might be hindering them in excelling within a subject. I attempt to determine if the issue is a lack of the basics/fundamentals, lack of understanding of the subject, or lack of confidence.
