When working with a new student, I will introduce myself, invite students and parents to introduce themselves, and ask a few questions so that I can understand your interests, needs, and current objectives. It also helps me to understand your experiences in school, what works best for you in learning, and any special needs.
During our lesson, I will be observing and asking questions to help me assess your understanding and your strategies, and to help you improve upon them, so that you can learn not only content but also how-to-study skills.
I enjoy helping students reach their goals successfully. It's very rewarding to help students gain the confidence that comes from mastery.

Why is my fee different than others?
The short answer: the value of the services I provide is so much greater than what others provide, that my fee is a bargain in value.
Most other tutors will help during the session. I arrive prepared; I bring unusual expertise; we will be unusually efficient in our work; students have the opportunity to develop an unusual depth and breadth of understanding when studying with me; and I am able to resolve specific deficiencies of understanding or skill on an unusually short timeline.

What do you receive for your investment?
Your fee includes tailored instruction including preparation and follow-through; my transportation to and from your location; and any additional materials we use in session and in recommended practice sets (although I may recommend other texts and resources for your consideration, which would not be included); and a written summary of each session.
