About Lilia
Do you need help with math? Are you having problems with numbers? Look no further, I am here to guide you all the way. Contact me so I can help you. I am flexible with scheduling. During the summer, my availability is a more open than during the school year. Please contact me to decide what location would be best for both of us.
I have taught high school Mathematics for 6 years. I am Texas TEA certified in Mathematics 8-12. I have worked with different organizations like Big Brothers/Big Sisters, Communities in Schools, and AVID with NISD. I earned my BA in Mathematics from St. Mary's University and will start a Master's program August 2019.

I enjoy working with students one-on-one. There is a certain level of understanding that can come from a small setting. Math was not always my best subject but I learned what I had to do in Math and how to understand it. I did not have someone to show me different methods of organization or study so I hope to pass that on to other students.
I started teaching when I found myself working with Communities in Schools as a mentor/tutor for students at a local middle school. I enjoyed it and immersed myself into the AVID program with NISD. After being in a school and in a classroom for a year, I finally decided on teaching and earned by BA in Mathematics from STMU.
I have taught high school for 6 years now. I am TEA certified in Mathematics. I have attended numerous workshops and have tutored for 7 years.

After first contact and deciding on a first session location and time, a vocabulary and/or topics that the student might need help going over would be helpful. I am very careful with the feedback that I give students. I make sure that I do not become a "homework" tutor. "Homework" tutors only help with homework. This does not always improve a student's understanding of the material, thus continued low grades on quizzes or tests.
I have worked with a wide range of students from 5th grade to college level PreCalculus.
I would encourage finding a tutor who is a good teacher. If you find your tutor just working on homework problems and not probing questions to check for understanding, that would be a huge reg flag. You want to make sure that you are learning.
My most recent fond even would be Baseball weekend. My great uncle passed away recently and to celebrate his life and all those lives in our family who have been touched by cancer, my cousins organized a celebration weekend with a baseball game at Rangers stadium and a quinceanera in DFW.
