About Jorge
I have several years of experience working with children K-8 on various math topics. Recent high school graduate enrolled in UC Irvine majoring in Civil engineering. Extremely patient and willing to work with any student no matter their level of math. My utmost priority is to pass on a love for math to every student that I am able to tutor.
I began in my freshman year of high school when I began as an intern for a nonprofit. Here I assisted in tutoring children K-8 for 3 years. After this, I volunteered at the said program for the remainder of my senior year where I mainly helped with math.
I have always excelled at math up until I graduated from high school where I finished AP Calculus. That in addition with my 3 years of interning at a nonprofit with an after school program I'm able to really connect with students and get them caught up.

I like to begin with getting to know the student better and typically start out with asking them or their parents if they know what they need help with. If uncertain I'll ask the student to take a small assessment so I can see where they are and what exactly they need help with.
I began tutoring at a nonprofit named Amigos de Guadalupe in my community. A lot of the students here were low income and typically a year or two below their expected math level.
The most important thing when looking for a teacher is to pay attention to their attitude. Make sure they love teaching the subject and its something that they really enjoy doing.
The most recent event that comes to mind is graduating high school. It was an awesome 4 years but I'm really glad my hard work paid off and I'm able to go to a university that I am happy with and pursue my love for math.
A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
I think students typically know the things that they are having trouble with but it is the teacher's job to be able to understand the student and their needs in order to better help them.
