Experienced tutor in Piano in Portland, Ralph offers private lessons tailored to your needs.

Ralph is an exceptional teacher who draws on a lifetime of experience. He is patient, kind, positive, and explains lessons thoroughly. He gives excellent advice.

His method of teaching is practical. He teaches music as a language and encourages learning through a thorough understanding of the keys, their relationships, and being able to improvise -- much like learning a vocabulary and phrases. This differs from piano teachers I've had in the past who focused on books and memorization (or what Ralph calls parroting).

Ralph has helped to correct some previous bad habits I didn't even realize I had, which had caused injury. I appreciate his techniques that will help me prevent any injuries in the future.

He is very Patient and explains real well.

Approaches learning music in a different way than traditional recital methodology of memorizing pieces of music, Ralph teaches how to understand the language of music. My son is now learning music that he has chosen on his own time in addition to jazz and classical music he’s learning for classes. He’s enjoying and exploring music whereas before it was just homework
