About Yolanda
I teach kids from about age 7 and up how to operate a sewing machine and create amazing pieces!
I enjoy turning non-believers into believer! I take the fear out of sewing, many think it's daunting and to their amazement it turns out to be quite attainable.
I have two Instagram accounts where you can see my work 1) Sew Contagios, mostly kids
2) Theefabricwhisperer, where I make my clothes
I started when my daughter's friends showed interest. I initially was having classes in my home, then started traveling to customers or booking studio space.
Self taught and I've been sewing for well over 30 years. My company is Sew Contagious, wherein I teach kids sewing, host parties, Girl Scout workshops and create video tutorials.
Roughly 80% of my wardrobe is handcrafted.

I have a conversation with the student to discuss their skill level. Depending upon where they are, we start with the basics, how to set up the sewing machine, learning the parts and fabric types. We typically create a beginner friendly item, a bag, apron, pillow, scarf, etc
