His leadership. The way that he gracefully guides you to imagine and create...

He is a super precise musician, but still very patient with people just beginning to learn. He has a vast knowledge of world music, and from his many years in the National Arab Orchestra he has extensive knowledge of Middle Eastern music. Even though he is patient, he gives accurate assessments to encourage people to improve. He performs mostly with violin, but he teaches people playing a wide variety of instruments. He has a lot of experience teaching ensembles of musicians to perform as a group.

Roberto’s a great teacher!

Roberto is an exceptional musician and person!

Roberto is a great teacher and a Master musician. His method has taught me a lot about improvisation in Music. I have applied all that I have learned from working with him Musically and I highly recommend him as teacher and a mentor.

Roberto is one of the most talented and versatile musicians I have ever studied with. He is extremely knowledgeable, experienced, and passionate. His enthusiasm is contagious! He brings out the best in his students and truly cares about helping his students grow. As a violin student I found his instruction challenging and rewarding. Highly recommend!

Total patience, excellent communication, vast knowledge, inclusive attitude, ability to bring out your best.

He was one of the best inspirations in my project! He plays incredibly!

I took oud lessons with Roberto and enjoyed them thoroughly. His patience, gentle teaching method and passion for the music shone brightly. I was a brand new student to the oud and to string instruments in general, and I was already playing a song after just a couple lessons. Highly recommend!!

Roberto is an amazing musician and teacher. He’s incredibly intuitive, creative, kind and his musical knowledge has no ceiling. I have learned so much from him and always look for opportunities to study with him. He will help you reach whatever musical goals you have and will teach you skills you didn’t even know you needed, and you’ll be better for it. He’s also a ton of fun to learn from. I am a better musician because of him and am very grateful to know him.

I took a World Music Improvisation class from Roberto, in the University of Texas Informal Class Program. In just two class sessions this man drew together an assortment of amateur talents and closet musicians into a collaborative, interacting musical conversation. He found a balance, set by discussion, example, and demonstration, that drew me out of my stage fright and shyness. No mean feat, I must note! Highly recommended teacher!

A very kind and talented violin teacher. Has an encyclopedic knowledge of music styles and systems from around the world, is patient and articulate and has an extensive resume as a result of his abilities. I highly recommend Roberto Riggio to learn violin, composition, improvisation and music instruction generally.

I was a TA for Roberto while he led the Bereket Middle Eastern Ensemble at UT and always relish a chance to see him perform. I have learned an incredible amount from him both as a musician myself, and as an educator. He can teach anything from basic to very complex topics clearly, and any musician of any instrument, level, style, or age would greatly benefit from working with him. It is a joy to study with Roberto.
