About Lauren
Hello! I have been playing viola for 9 years and teaching private lessons for 3 years. My primary instrument is viola as I play it in an orchestral setting. I have been playing violin for 5 years with different mariachi groups. I have been a member of James Madison High School's honor orchestra for 3 years. I am currently looking to gain more students!
Seeing students make connections, whether it be playing a measure correctly or understanding articulations, pushes me as a teacher. Students that love music, are eager to learn, and curious about their passions are always a joy to work with.
My orchestra teacher referred me to multiple clients searching for a teacher.

I first listen to anything the student can play. This helps me get an idea of their level, strengths, and weaknesses. I find students learn easier through repetition, so I often correct mistakes and bad habits using this as well as coaching the student through skills that will improve their flaws.
I have worked with elementary and middle school students.
It is perfectly okay to not match with a private teacher. Any teacher that causes stress probably isn't a good match. As a student, you will work harder and play better when comfortable with your private teacher.

Details
For a 30 minute lesson I charge $20, and for an hour lesson I charge $40, anything longer than an hour will be determined based on the the length desired.
