About Kevin
I obtained 1st class honours in B.Sc. Mathematics and Statistics. Mathematics and statistics offer many opportunities in the data analysis sector and design sector. In particular, graph theory can be used as a tool or algorithm to map out new transport routes and statistics can be used in areas of data analysis to hypothesise likely events that may happen in the future such as the number of new cases, taking the current ongoing pandemic as an example.
I have been a private tutor in mathematics for over 6 years with experience in 11+, GCSE and A-level mathematics and further mathematics. I also have experience with tutoring 11+ non-verbal reasoning. All of my 11+ students, have done very well in their exams and 80% of them getting into their desired choice of school. I taught at a local comprehensive school for 1 year. You can be certain from my high success rate and my experience as a classroom teacher in KS3, GCSE Maths and level 2 further maths/additional maths and A-level Maths, Further Maths and Statistics that I will be able to offer high quality tuition to all my students. I am a very resourceful teacher and will be able to provide for the needs of all kinds of students.
I am also from a family of mathematicians and mathematics teachers.

My lesson structure is largely influenced by my classroom teaching experience. I am open and adaptable to tailor to each student’s individual needs- can tutor for any exam board. My lesson structure is as follows:
1) Starter/Review- Either a quiz or differentiated activity/retrieval practice to check student understanding of prior knowledge/skills.
2) Main lesson (may use a hook)- this will be the part where I will go through new skills using an "I do, we do, you do" model . This will be a step by step process through questioning and explanations to reduce cognitive overload. A hook in the form of a contextual or real-life example may be used were possible to make lesson more enjoyable than bland mathematics itself.
3) Consolidation exercise (short)- Student will have the opportunity to practice the skill that was reviewed/learnt in the main lesson and further consolidate their learning through a short exercise of questions.
4) Plenary- Short quiz fire quiz consisting of anywhere between 3 to 5 questions to test student's understanding of the reviewed/new skill.
I strongly stick to Rosenshine's principal and will scaffold new skills that students find hard by breaking down step by step so that my student can see that they can achieve a success rate of a minimum of 80% per lesson- this is my main goal, and through my classroom teaching experience this is essential for students to progress fast in mathematics
