About Layla
Hi! I’m Layla, a Computational Modeling and Data Analytics student at Virginia Tech with minors in Computer Science and Mathematics. My academic journey is fueled by a passion for solving complex puzzles, whether they involve predicting disease trends through biostatistic modeling, or building interactive software applications. I am currently analyzing public health data and automating technology. As a Dean’s List student and a leader in campus organizations, I know what it takes to balance a rigorous schedule while mastering difficult concepts. I bring that same proactive, problem-solving mindset to every tutoring session.

Teaching Method:
" First Principles"; I prefer to break complex problems into their basic steps because if you understand the foundation, the advanced parts are building blocks to foundational techniques.
Lesson Plan:
1. Warm-ups; I begin my lessons with 10-minute warm-up questions of similar problems to exercise the brain.
2. I then dive into the tough problems by breaking them down into small blocks that are built up to solve the problem.
3. I end the lesson with a summary of what was learned in that lesson to ensure the understanding of the new knowledge.
I teach how to think about a problem. My goal is to enhance the problem-solving and critical thinking skills of kids so they are able to tackle problems themselves.
Available for 1st year undergraduates, high school level, and middle/secondary school level students.
