About Jay
I believe that every student learns mathematics differently. My approach is patient, supportive, and focused on building understanding and confidence, rather than simply memorizing formulas or providing answers.
I have a strong analytical and problem-solving background through my work in technology, data science, and artificial intelligence, and I enjoy breaking down complex problems into clear, manageable steps.
These tutoring sessions are offered 100% free of charge as an independent initiative to support high-school students in the Hamilton community.

My goal is not just to help students get the right answer, but to help them understand the concepts, develop problem-solving skills, and become more confident in mathematics.
I use a student-focused, step-by-step approach. I first identify the student's current understanding and areas of difficulty, then explain concepts using simple examples before gradually moving to more challenging problems. I encourage students to explain their reasoning, ask questions, and learn from mistakes rather than simply memorizing formulas.
