About Jieni
Hi my name is Jieni.
Something about myself:
I come from the other side of the earth
I have studied in 4 countries and 2 universities
and I have just finished my first year in Biomedical Engineering at Imperial College
Why should this girl help you?
I have recently experienced the process, the frustration and stress of exams so I can totally relate to the student and would look at problems both from an examiner's view as well as students view.
During tutoring I like to communicate with students extensively and fully understand their reasoning in order to identify knowledge gaps. In this way we can efficiently improve the understanding in the subject area. I would also encourage students to approach one problem from different perspectives and enhance their understanding by asking them challenging questions around the topic and get them thinking.
In bioengineering we learn a wide range of subjects, from maths to all the sciences. This makes me able to relate common concepts from different subjects areas. Therefore I can explain one problems from different approaches and give various real life applications to engage with students and help them to identify their interests.
Using a variety of teaching method, I always like to relate difficult questions to simple but interesting models that are common in everyday life and explain to student in an intuitive way. This makes complex concepts very easy to understand, and spark interest in the subject area.
As a tutor I am very approachable and I believe having a relaxed, enjoyable learning environment can greatly help students absorb knowledge and better achieve their goals.
