About Lukmon
Hello! My name is Mary, I am a passionate Yoruba tutor with a background in Early Childhood Education. I have over two years of experience supporting young learners in reading, pronunciation, and language development, and I love helping students build confidence step by step.
I enjoy teaching Yoruba in a simple, structured and engaging way, whether you are a complete beginner, a diaspora learner reconnecting with your roots, or someone who wants to improve conversational skills.
I believe learning a language should be practical, interactive, and fun. Outside teaching, I enjoy reading, learning new teaching methods, and exploring different cultures.

I try to keep my Yoruba lessons pretty straightforward and hands on, you know, so people actually use what they learn. Right from the start, we get into basic sounds by talking about everyday stuff, like looking at pictures or just chatting simply. It helps make things stick without feeling too hard.
The whole point is to focus on talking for real, not just memorizing lists. I bring in examples from life, show some visuals, and guide conversations so students pick up words, how to say them right, and put sentences together. Along the way, they start reading a bit too, while getting comfortable speaking.
These are good for kids or anyone just starting out, especially folks from the diaspora who want to chat with family or get into the culture more. I think connecting like that is what draws people in.
I create a supportive and relaxed learning environment where students can ask questions freely, practice speaking often, and learn at a comfortable pace.
