About Michael

I started this journey with a simple belief: learning should inspire, not intimidate. Whether it’s understanding the layers of history or the structure of a sonata, I’ve always been fascinated by how knowledge connects us — to the past, to each other, and to ourselves. Tenuto Tutoring was born out of my love for both teaching and lifelong learning. “Tenuto” in music means to hold — to give weight and importance. That’s what I aim to do with education: hold space for every student to grow with patience, depth, and meaning. My background blends both academic study and real teaching experience, and I’ve worked with students of all ages to help them find confidence, clarity, and joy in their subjects. I specialize in history and music tutoring, but above all, I focus on helping students become curious, capable learners — not just for exams, but for life. If you’re ready to dig deep, ask bold questions, and grow your skills with support every step of the way — let’s learn together.

About the lesson

Great question! Here's a breakdown of **how your history lesson plans can be effectively tutored for remote learning**, whether you're tutoring one-on-one or in small groups. I’ll tailor this to a tutor’s perspective unless you want it from a student’s or administrator’s side.

---

# Structure of Remote History Lessons (Tutoring Format)

**1. Pre-Session Prep:**
- Students receive short reading materials, videos, or key questions ahead of time.
- Use tools like Google Docs, Slides, or a shared learning platform (e.g., Google Classroom, Notion) to keep resources organized.

**2. Live Tutoring Sessions:**
- Conducted via Zoom, Google Meet, or a platform like Bramble or Lessonspace.
- Use screen sharing for maps, timelines, primary sources, and visuals to create engagement.
- Encourage discussion through breakout rooms or guided questioning if it's a small group.

**3. Interactive Learning Tools:**
- **Timelines:** Use digital timeline creators like Sutori or TimeToast to build historical sequences.
- **Quizzes & Flashcards:** Platforms like Quizlet or Kahoot keep review fun and active.
- **Virtual Whiteboards:** Tools like Jamboard or Whiteboard.fi help brainstorm essay plans or compare events.

**4. Essay & Source Analysis:**
- Share exemplar essays, then break them down together.
- Use Google Docs or Microsoft OneDrive for real-time collaboration on outlines or paragraph building.
- Emphasize source evaluation with guided primary/secondary source analysis (highlighting, annotations, etc.).

**5. Follow-Up & Feedback:**
- Provide summary notes or a short video recap.
- Offer voice-recorded or written feedback on written work.
- Optional: Assign mini-projects or presentations using Canva, Padlet, or Loom to keep students active.

---

# Focused Learning Goals
Tutoring is tailored to:
- Build critical thinking and essay-writing confidence
- Develop strong understanding of cause-effect, change over time, and historical significance
- Prepare for specific exams (GCSE, A-Level, IB, AP, etc.) or coursework
