About Bub
Hi! I’m Bub, a friendly and thoughtful English graduate from the University of Exeter with a Master's degree in Psychology. I’m also currently completing a Master's in Psychotherapy and Counselling, which has strengthened my communication skills and my person-centred approach to supporting others.
I have always loved the depth, creativity, and detail of English. Whether exploring literature, developing writing skills, or understanding how language can be used effectively, I enjoy helping students engage with English in a way that feels meaningful and manageable rather than overwhelming.
Studying English inspired me to pursue psychology, as I became fascinated by the ways texts explore human behaviour, emotion, and relationships. This background has shaped my calm and supportive approach to tutoring. I believe learning is not just about achieving better grades (although that is a great outcome); it is also about building confidence, curiosity, and a genuine enjoyment of the subject.
I offer support across English Language and Literature, including essay writing, textual analysis, exam preparation, and developing confidence in written communication. I tailor lessons to each student’s individual goals, strengths, and learning style, creating a supportive environment where they feel comfortable asking questions and making progress.
I have experience working as a teaching assistant in a non-mainstream school, supporting students with a range of mental health needs and neurodiverse learning profiles. This taught me the importance of patience, flexibility, and adapting my approach to help each student thrive.
Alongside tutoring, I am training to become a therapist because I believe everyone deserves to feel heard, understood, and supported. While tutoring is different from therapy, these skills help me create a calm, welcoming space where students can develop their abilities, overcome challenges, and grow in confidence.

My lessons are tailored around each student’s individual goals, strengths, and areas for development. I believe the best learning happens in a supportive environment where students feel comfortable asking questions, making mistakes, and building confidence.
I can support students with essay structure, close analysis, exam technique, revision strategies, and developing confidence with written responses. Whether you are looking to improve your understanding of texts, strengthen your writing skills, or prepare for exams, I will adapt lessons to suit your individual needs.
Lessons will combine discussion, explanation, and practical activities. Depending on your goals, we might explore how to approach exam questions, break down challenging texts, develop stronger arguments, improve essay structure, or practise writing techniques. I aim to make lessons engaging and interactive, helping you understand not just what to do, but why it works.
I can provide lessons online or in person, creating a flexible learning environment that works best for you. Whether you are looking for exam preparation, extra support alongside school, or simply want to develop your English skills further, I will help you make progress and feel more confident.
