About Suhayl
Who I Am and Why I Teach Hello! My name is Suhayl Patel, and I am a passionate and dedicated tutor with a strong academic background and professional experience. I graduated with a First-Class Honours in BEng Mechanical Engineering from University College London (UCL), and I have over four years of experience tutoring GCSE and A-Level Mathematics and Science. Teaching has always been a deeply rewarding pursuit for me. I enjoy simplifying complex concepts, tailoring my lessons to suit each student’s unique needs, and watching them grow in confidence and capability. My academic journey, including achieving A*s in Mathematics, Further Mathematics, and Physics at A-Level, has given me a profound appreciation for the subjects I teach and the tools to help others succeed. Through my experiences working in customer service and IT roles, I have honed my communication, problem-solving, and organisational skills. These qualities enable me to create structured, engaging lessons that cater to a wide range of learning styles. I also integrate resources such as worksheets, exam board specifications, and past paper questions to ensure my students are thoroughly prepared for their exams. I teach because I believe education is a powerful tool for unlocking potential. I incorporate resources commonly used in schools and provide worksheets designed to develop a broad understanding of the curriculum. I also use exam board specifications to validate knowledge and integrate past paper questions to build confidence and prepare students for exams. Active participation, regular progress assessments, and a flexible teaching style ensure each student learns at their own pace. Typical Lesson Length: Each lesson typically lasts 60 minutes, allowing ample time to explain concepts, practise problems, and review key takeaways. Longer sessions can be arranged for intensive exam preparation. Qualifications and Experience: I hold a BEng in Mechanical Engineering (First Class Honours) from UCL and have over 4 years’ experience tutoring GCSE Mathematics and Physics. I have successfully helped students improve their understanding, confidence, and grades. Who the Lessons Are For: My lessons are designed for GCSE students aged 14–16, of all abilities.
