About David
I am a private tutor who teaches virtual online individual Spanish and English lessons virtually world wide through Skype and WeChat. I have been tutoring like this in Houston since Dec. 1997. I estimate that I have taught more than 300 students. Most of my ESL students were Chinese, and most of my Spanish students were American WASPs hoping to speak Spanish with the many Hispanic immigrants here in the US, or to travel to Mexico and other Latin American countries and speak with the natives there. I have had several very outstanding successes among my Chinese students. Many of them have gone on to study in the Houston Universites and have graduated with degrees. Several of them have gotten Phd's
and one received her degree in optometry. This last 3 years I taught a 75 year old woman from Scotland face-to-face in my home. She finished the 36 months have a very good pronunciation of Spanish with a rather good vocabulary. Her verbal conjugation was fair and she can carry on a conversation with Spanish speakers. I am very proud of what she and I both accomplished with her Spanish speaking ability.

I teach the students to speak and understand their language i.e. we speak and record the lesson on my computer. The students receives the recorded lessons either sent to them through the computer or
copied onto their USB flash drives. I concentrate on correct pronunciation, through repetition, repetition, repetition. When we first study a chapter I read the text and they read and repeat the text. Their homework is to listen to the recording every day until they come back for the following lesson. When the student comes back for the next class I read the text to them and by only listening they must repeat what I said, so they learn their listening comprehension in this manner. Most of my students study one hour each week, but some took two or three lessons per week. I did have
one student who studied four hours every day five days a week. He is one of the ones who earned a BA from St. Thomas U.

Details
I do not travel to the student's location. I charge $30/lesson. Lessons are normally an hour. Students must give 4 days in advance to change their lesson schedule.
