About Mia

Hi, I'm Mia, a graduate entry medical student at Barts and The London (Queen Mary University of London)!

Having recently been through the application process myself, I understand how demanding and competitive the journey to medical school can be. I’m passionate about helping aspiring medical students turn their preparation into strong, authentic interview performances!

I offer interview preparation for both undergraduate and graduate entry applicants, alongside guidance throughout the wider application process.

In my own application, I achieved 3 out of 3 interview offers from Queen Mary’s (Graduate Entry), the University of Exeter, and City St George’s, giving me first-hand experience with both panel-style and MMI-style interview formats. I also scored 2150 in the UCAT with Band 1 SJT and graduated with a First Class degree in Medical Sciences from the University of Exeter. Having applied to both undergraduate and graduate entry medicine myself, I understand the expectations, similarities and differences between the two routes, allowing me to tailor my support to whichever path you’re applying through.

I achieved ABB at A-level, and I wasn't always the person with “top of the class” grades. I know how intimidating it can feel when everyone around you seems to be ticking every box already, top grades and long lists of achievements. But I can tell you that if medicine is truly your dream, hard work and the right support and preparation can get you there, even if your journey looks different to other people’s, and I'd love to help you with yours.

Beyond the classroom, my experience as a data assistant, pharmacy advisor, and Special Olympics volunteer has shaped my ability to connect with people from all kinds of backgrounds, communicate clearly, and problem-solve under pressure. Combined with the critical thinking skills my degree has strengthened, these are the experiences I draw on to help students sharpen their own skills and feel confident showcasing them in interviews.

I also love music and singing, and try to bring that same energy and enthusiasm into my tutoring sessions!

My approach starts with figuring out exactly what you need, then builds from there:

1. Initial assessment: We start by working out what kind of support is most useful to you right now, whether that's:

* Targeted work on a specific station type or skill you're struggling with
* Broad guidance because you're not sure where to start
* Testing/practice to check where you already stand

2. Diagnostic testing: I'll ask you a range of interview-style questions early on to get a clear, honest picture of your current strengths and gaps, and to get a real baseline of where you are at.

3. Feedback: You'll get specific, constructive feedback on your answers: what worked, what didn't land, why, and how to improve.

4. Technique and frameworks: Together, we'll work through different question types and themes and build up your toolkit of methods and structures for approaching them. I will help you create genuine frameworks for thinking on your feet, plus tips for effective independent study between sessions.

5. Mock interviews: Testing your knowledge with mock style panel and/or MMI-style interview questions, so the real thing feels familiar rather than intimidating.

6. University-specific advice: Drawing on my own experience across multiple universities and both application routes, I can give tailored guidance for your specific target schools where useful.

My sessions are collaborative rather than me just talking at you. I want you to leave each one having actually practised the skill, not just heard about it.

Lessons typically run for an hour, though this can be adjusted depending on what a session covers, for example, a full mock interview may run slightly longer to allow time for detailed feedback afterwards.

I am a Graduate Entry Medical student at Barts and The London (Queen Mary University of London), having achieved 3 out of 3 interview offers in my own application (Queen Mary's, University of Exeter, and City St George's), with first-hand experience of both panel and MMI interview formats. I also achieved a First Class BSc in Medical Sciences from the University of Exeter and scored 2150 in the UCAT (Band 1 SJT).

My lessons are aimed at students applying to medicine at both undergraduate and graduate entry level, whether you're just starting to prepare and unsure where to begin, or further along and looking to refine your technique through mock interviews and university-specific advice.

My hourly rate is £15, and your first lesson is completely free, no obligation to continue. This isn't just a quick intro call, it's a full, normal-length session where we'll assess your current strengths and areas to focus on, so you leave with real value and a clear sense of how we'd work together going forward. I don't charge extra for any teaching materials or resources, these are included in your session and shared with you afterwards so you can keep practising independently.
