My teaching philosophy centers on adaptive learning—I meet students where they are and adjust my approach based on their individual learning style, pace, and goals. I employ a combination of:
Active learning: Students engage directly with material through problem-solving and discussion rather than passive listening
Scaffolding: Breaking complex concepts into manageable chunks, building confidence progressively
Real-world connections: Linking abstract concepts to practical applications to enhance understanding and retention
Socratic questioning: Guiding students to discover answers themselves, which deepens comprehension and critical thinking skills
Immediate feedback loops: Addressing misconceptions as they arise rather than letting them compound
A Typical Lesson Plan
Each session generally follows this structure:
Check-in (5 min): Review previous material, address questions, assess confidence level
Concept introduction (15-20 min): Present new material using multiple modalities (visual, verbal, written examples)
Guided practice (15-20 min): Work through problems together, gradually reducing my support as confidence builds
Independent practice (10-15 min): Student tackles problems while I observe and provide strategic hints
Wrap-up (5 min): Summarize key takeaways, preview next session, assign targeted practice
This structure remains flexible—if a student needs more time on fundamentals or wants to dive deeper into advanced topics, we adjust accordingly.
What Sets Me Apart
Personalized preparation: I review each student's specific coursework, exams, and problem areas before sessions
Growth mindset cultivation: I help students see challenges as opportunities and build genuine confidence, not just subject knowledge
Clear communication: I can explain concepts multiple ways until something clicks, never making students feel inadequate for not understanding immediately
Resource curation: I provide supplementary materials, practice problems, and study strategies tailored to each student's needs
Who My Lessons Are For
I work with all ages and backgrounds!
Ideal students: Those preparing for exams, struggling with specific concepts, seeking enrichment, or building foundation for advanced study
Special focus: Students who've had negative past experiences with the subject and need confidence rebuilding, as well as high-achievers wanting to deepen their mastery
