About Marissa
I am a Carnegie Mellon University graduate with a bachelor’s degree in Business Analytics. With several years of experience tutoring students from elementary school through college, I specialize in making complex concepts accessible—whether in fundamental math, SAT preparation, or advanced analytics. My teaching background includes serving as a teaching assistant for two college courses, working with students one-on-one and in the classroom, as well as supporting learners at Mathnasium and within my own family. In addition to teaching, I have hands-on expertise with Tableau, developed through both academic projects and professional work, allowing me to turn data into actionable insights. I am passionate about helping others achieve academic and personal growth, striving to make learning engaging and meaningful for every student.

Throughout high school, I worked as a math tutor at a prestigious tutoring company, providing in-person support to help lower-level math students build strong foundational skills. In addition, I tutored high-level high school and college students one-on-one, focusing on advanced topics and personalized strategies to help them excel. My experience also includes SAT and ACT preparation, where I supported students striving to maximize their test scores.
After high school, I attended Carnegie Mellon University, majoring in business analytics and machine learning. During college, I further strengthened my teaching expertise by serving as a teaching assistant for two courses over 2–3 years, consistently tutoring and guiding students through challenging material. Now, as I return to tutoring, I offer a comprehensive background in mathematics, proven success with 1:1 instruction across all levels, and a genuine passion for helping learners reach their academic goals.
My approach combines diagnostic assessment, step-by-step problem-solving, and real-world examples to ensure student comprehension. I tailor my methods to each student’s learning style, focusing on building both skill and confidence.
