About Thomas
I'm a very keen mathematician and have a love of problem solving. I've competed in numerous maths competitions (or Mathematical Olympiads). For the 2021 Maclaurin Olympiad I achieved the highest prize only awarded to the top 50 scorers. Moreover, I have participated in Team Maths Challenges. This has provided me with the delightful experience of working with others collaboratively on maths problems. I believe that being able to communicate your ideas with others is as valuable a skill as devising the ideas themselves. I've provided maths tuition to students in the past and have thoroughly enjoyed the journey I have taken with my students as they progress into a more confident mathematician.

When learning mathematics, the most important goal is to have a deep understanding of the basic concepts that make up a topic. It will be my goal as a tutor to make sure my students have these realisations. I know from past experience that without this fundamental understanding, it becomes unnecessarily difficult to learn more complex topics that follow as a result of these concepts. I will work through topics at an engaging pace and review previously learned topics to consolidate these ideas. I will be offering tuition for levels of mathematics up to and including GCSE.
