Two seemingly diverse thoughts...
"Teachers teach the way they've been taught"
"Every student is unique"
Both true. My approach is to diagnose the students interests, short and long terms goals, musical background, and whatever problems need to be addressed. The next step is to design a structured path to chives those goals based on my years of studying at leading music schools as well as university teaching. The difference here is no grades, no syllabus -- the student determines the pace. The teaching environment is then free of stress. Relaxed, but effective.

Perfect! Scott is personable. He is invested in my progress in playing guitar and it has been very effective so far.
Perfect! Scott is a consummate professional. Patient, and attentive describes his teaching style. His professional credentials as a guitarist are unmatched in this area. I am 45 years old and have been playing 30 years, yet I can always count on learning something new. You simply cannot find a better instructor.

A consummate professional guitarist who is skilled in guitar technique and music theory. Studied at several prestigious music schools and is a guitarist in-demand by top ranked theater and music organizations in the community. This experience and knowledge is, in turn, conveyed to his students.
Scott is very easy to work with! He is patient and very understanding. He is also very flexible, which for me is great! Because of work and kids, I often have to move my lessons around, and whenever possible, Scott will work with me to get the lesson in! We even did a Facetime lesson last time because of COVID-19! He is obviously very knowledgeable about music and very talented, but he didn't make me intimidated at all when I took my first guitar lesson with him not quite a year ago at the tender young age of 46! Thanks Scott!!
I was preparing to play in the pit band for a cabaret show, and Scott helped me work out guitar parts for a variety of song styles. We worked on tricky chord progressions, and a few solos, too. It was a real breakthrough for me as a musician, and I couldn't have done it without Scott.
As an adult learner, Scott allows you to tailor the lesson to your needs and not that of the teacher. This is important to me as an advanced player who knows where I need to grow and develop as a musician/guitar player. Overall, I highly recommend Scott as he is comfortable in teaching all styles of music and is very patient during the lessons.
The music theory he teaches me is very practical. It’s not theory for theory sake. I can finally understand what music is all about. I’m thankful Scott is my teacher.
As a pretty advanced player, it's difficult finding guitarists that are truly able to teach me a whole lot. This is not the case with Scott! His depth of guitar/music knowledge and its application is staggering, and he was able to spot the gaps in my own understanding and help fill them. Not to mention he's a very professional yet cool guy!
Excellent at teaching to your level.
