About Sera

As a Harvard-educated engineering tutor with a deep passion for art and music, I bring a unique perspective to the teaching of calculus and other advanced math subjects. My love for concerts and art museums has taught me the importance of seeing patterns, rhythms, and structures – concepts that are as vital in the arts as they are in mathematics.

In every lesson, I aim to inspire confidence in my students by drawing upon my academic background and teaching experience at Harvard. This prestigious education has not only honed my mathematical skills but has also instilled in me the highest standards of professionalism and dedication to my students' success.

My approach is deeply rooted in the belief that everyone can master math, especially when it's taught in a way that resonates with them. By integrating my love for the arts into my teaching, I make complex concepts more relatable and enjoyable, fostering a learning environment that is both effective and inspiring.

Whether you're just starting out in calculus or looking to strengthen your foundation in math, I am here to guide you through every step of the journey. My goal is to not only help you excel academically but also to cultivate a lasting appreciation for the beauty and utility of mathematics in everyday life. Let's embark on this educational adventure together, where numbers and equations harmonize with the rhythm of the arts!

As a Harvard-educated engineering tutor with a talent for distilling complex concepts into understandable components, my approach to teaching math and engineering is tailored to help younger students who are embarking on higher-level courses like calculus.

Teaching Method and Techniques:

Conceptual Understanding: I emphasize a deep understanding of fundamental concepts, rather than rote memorization. This approach is crucial for subjects like calculus, where each new topic builds on previous knowledge.

Simplification: My ability to break down intricate ideas into simpler parts is key. This makes complex topics more approachable and less intimidating for students.

Interactive Learning: I encourage an interactive classroom environment. This involves problem-solving sessions, discussions, and practical applications to ensure a dynamic and engaging learning experience.

Customized Teaching: Recognizing that each student has a unique learning style, I adapt my teaching methods to meet their specific needs and learning preferences.

Typical Lesson Plan:

Review and Recap: Begin with a brief review of the previous lesson's key concepts to reinforce learning and address any lingering questions.

Introduction of New Concepts: Introduce new topics by relating them to familiar concepts, ensuring a smooth transition and better understanding.

Interactive Demonstrations: Use real-world examples and interactive tools to demonstrate the practical applications of theoretical concepts.

Guided Practice: Engage students in solving problems with my support. This step is crucial for building confidence and competence.

Independent Practice: Allow students to solve problems independently, which helps in assessing their understanding and areas where they might need more help.
