About Ashley
Scales and modes are often seen as dry, but I find they provide the essential language for real improvisation. To be honest, I sometimes lose track of time when I start demonstrating a new soloing concept. My personal journey has taken me from the classrooms of Musicians Institute Hollywood to stages across Denver. I have taught 175 students over the course of 13 years and love seeing those lightbulb moments.
Reading tabs and sheet music becomes second nature once you understand the logic behind the fretboard. I also cover acoustic technique and ear training to help you hear the music before you play it. Tuning and maintenance are part of the process, as keeping your instrument in shape is just as vital as practicing your songwriting. I enjoy working with adults and advanced learners who want to push their own boundaries.

Sitting down for a lesson feels like a focused jam session where we map out your musical goals. I start by observing your current technique to see exactly where we can improve your playing mechanics. My 13 years of experience allow me to break down complex theory into simple, actionable steps that make sense immediately.
Because I hold a Diploma from Musicians Institute Hollywood, I rely on a mix of formal training and the practical wisdom gained from years of gigging. We spend a good chunk of time on improvisation so you can feel comfortable playing without a chart in front of you. It is rewarding to watch a student finally find their own voice on the fretboard after weeks of consistent practice.
