About Lis

I have been teaching English for over 20 years. For 7 of those years, I was living in Asia. During that time, I gained an understanding of the sound systems of East Asian languages. This experience of learning languages with very different pronunciations, in combination with my background in ESL, expertise in phonetics and phonology, and my extensive teaching experience, means I am excellently positioned to help you (speakers of Mandarin, Cantonese, Japanese, Korean, Vietnamese) solve your communication problems. Since returning to the UK, I have specialised in teaching English pronunciation to East language speakers and have helped hundreds of clients speak English with clarity, confidence and credibility.

About the lesson

Through teaching about the differences between East Asian and English phonetic systems, and coaching students to pronounce the native English sounds, stress, connected speech and intonation correctly, I have helped hundreds of clients to feel confident speaking English. Through solving your communication challenges, I can help you not only feel better when you speak English, but support you to make your career goals a reality. - International Phonetics Association Certificate in Phonetics and Phonology - BA (Hons) English and French - MSc Psychology
