My name is Tomas, and my approach as a tutor is centered on clarity, personalization, and confidence-building. I believe students learn best when they truly understand the why behind concepts, not just how to follow steps. I focus on breaking down complex ideas into simple, intuitive explanations and adapting my teaching style to each student’s learning pace and goals.
A typical lesson begins with a quick check-in to identify what the student finds challenging or wants to focus on. From there, I review key concepts, walk through guided examples, and then let the student practice independently while I provide real-time feedback. I often use visuals, real-world applications, and exam-style questions to reinforce understanding and prepare students for assessments.
As an IB student with a rigorous math background and experience working as a tutor at Mathnasium, I understand both the student perspective and effective instructional techniques. I’m patient, encouraging, and highly focused on helping students gain confidence and independence in math.
My lessons are ideal for middle school and high school students, including those taking standard math courses, honors, SAT, IB, or AP-level math, as well as students who want extra support, stronger foundations, or enrichment beyond the classroom. I tailor every lesson to the student’s level, learning style, and academic goals to ensure steady progress and lasting understanding.
