About Arthur

About Me

Hello! My name is Arthur Viola, and I am an educator, historian, and doctoral researcher with a passion for helping students achieve academic success and develop confidence in their abilities.

I hold a Master of Arts in History from Rhode Island College and a Master of Arts in Egyptology from the University of Memphis. I am currently pursuing doctoral studies in Ancient Near Eastern Archaeology at Lipscomb University. My academic training has provided me with extensive experience in historical research, academic writing, critical thinking, source analysis, and effective communication.

In addition to my academic background, I have classroom teaching experience and extensive experience working with students in middle and high school settings. Throughout my career, I have enjoyed helping students overcome academic challenges, improve their understanding of complex subjects, and develop the skills necessary for long-term success.

My areas of expertise include History, Social Studies, Writing, Research Methods, Study Skills, Geography, and College Essay Preparation. I am particularly passionate about helping students understand not only what happened in history, but why it happened and how historical events continue to shape the world today.

My Teaching Philosophy

I believe that every student is capable of success when instruction is clear, engaging, and tailored to their individual needs. Many students struggle not because they lack ability, but because they have not yet found a learning approach that works for them.

My goal is to create a supportive learning environment where students feel comfortable asking questions, making mistakes, and developing confidence in their abilities. I strive to explain concepts in a clear and practical manner while encouraging critical thinking and independent learning.

Rather than focusing solely on memorization, I help students develop a deeper understanding of the material. Whether we are studying history, improving writing skills, preparing for an exam, or working on a research project, I emphasize comprehension, analytical thinking, and problem-solving.

What Students Can Expect

Students who work with me can expect:

• Patient and individualized instruction
• Clear explanations of difficult concepts
• Practical study and organizational strategies
• Constructive feedback and encouragement
• A supportive and professional learning environment
• Lessons tailored to their specific goals and needs

Whether you are seeking help with coursework, preparing for an important exam, improving your writing skills, or pursuing a personal interest in history, I am committed to helping you achieve your goals.

I look forward to working with you and helping you reach your full academic potential.

History & Social Studies

History is more than memorizing names and dates. My lessons help students understand the causes and consequences of historical events, identify important themes, and develop the critical-thinking skills needed to succeed in school. Whether you are preparing for an exam, improving your grades, or exploring a personal interest in history, I can help make the past come alive.

Writing & Composition

Strong writing skills are essential for success in school, college, and professional life. I help students improve organization, grammar, argumentation, research, and clarity. Whether you are writing essays, research papers, or college application essays, I will help you become a more confident and effective writer.

Study Skills & Academic Success

Many students struggle not because they lack intelligence, but because they have never been taught effective study techniques. I help students develop time management, note-taking, organization, test preparation, and learning strategies that can improve performance across all subjects.

College Essay Writing

A college essay is your opportunity to tell your story and distinguish yourself from other applicants. I help students develop compelling essays that communicate their experiences, goals, and strengths while maintaining their authentic voice.

Research Skills

As a doctoral researcher, I have extensive experience conducting scholarly research and evaluating sources. I help students learn how to locate reliable information, evaluate evidence, cite sources properly, and construct strong academic arguments.
