About Ross
With years of international teaching experience and a Master’s degree in Romance Languages, I help students build real confidence and fluency in Spanish through engaging, communication-focused lessons. I have taught learners of all ages and backgrounds — from students in primary, elementary, and high school to adult professionals — always adapting my lessons to each student’s goals, learning style, and pace.
My teaching philosophy goes beyond memorizing grammar rules. I believe languages are living cultures to participate in, so my lessons focus on real conversation, cultural understanding, pronunciation, listening comprehension, and building the confidence to communicate naturally. I create a supportive environment where mistakes are part of the learning process and progress feels motivating instead of stressful.
In addition to founding my own language school, I have lived and worked in the United States, Mexico, Italy, and Portugal, experiences that deeply shaped my understanding of language acquisition and cross-cultural communication. Whether you are preparing for travel, improving your academic performance, developing professional communication skills, or simply learning for personal growth, I will help you build practical fluency through personalized and immersive lessons.

My teaching approach is based on the idea that languages are living cultures to participate in, not just systems of rules to memorize. I use a communication-focused methodology that helps students think directly in Spanish rather than constantly translating in their heads. My lessons combine conversation practice, listening comprehension, cultural immersion, storytelling, pronunciation work, and spaced repetition techniques to build long-term fluency and confidence. I prioritize real communication over perfection because I believe students learn fastest when they feel comfortable taking risks and making mistakes.
A typical lesson includes guided conversation, vocabulary building through real-life topics, listening or reading activities, pronunciation correction, and practical exercises connected to the student’s goals and interests. I often incorporate music, food, travel, philosophy, film, and cultural discussions to make the language feel alive and meaningful instead of academic or repetitive.
What sets me apart is my international teaching background and immersive coaching philosophy. I have taught students in primary, elementary, and high school as well as adult professionals, and I’ve lived and worked across the United States, Mexico, Italy, and Portugal. I also founded my own language school and developed my own fluency coaching methodology focused on identity transformation, cultural competence, and practical communication.
My lessons are for all levels, from complete beginners to advanced learners who feel stuck at an intermediate plateau. I work with children, teenagers, university students, travelers, professionals, heritage speakers, and anyone looking to build confidence and genuine fluency in Spanish through an engaging and personalized approach.

Ross taught me the basics of Spanish and walked me through the necessary vocabulary to get around in Mexico. We focused on pronunciation, as well as grammar. It was very helpful to have someone guide me through the exercises and correct me when I am wrong, explaining my mistakes. Ross provided lots of materials (different textbooks) which made the lesson structured. He helped me challenge myself by reading short stories from lingua website, which was difficult at first but easier with practice. Definitely recommend him as a tutor to anyone interested in learning a new language!
