About Katie
I am a senior at the University of Tennessee in Knoxville. I am a forensic anthropology major and am on the pre-med track. I have had to take many difficult classes that have made me stay up late to prepare. During that time, I had to learn what was the best way (for me) to understand and retain information. I want to help others with this and show people that school can be difficult but not impossible and there are ways to succeed.
My mom is a teacher and I remember growing up and seeing her come with different ways to teach because she believed that for people to actually learn they have to stay engaged and I believed the same. I have tutored people in the past and would use the same techniques.
I am open to critique and new ideas because I believe that that will be the result of good teaching.

I believe that everyone is a unique learner and not one strategy works for all. I want to work with you to find a way that actually works. Whether thats visual by drawing things out or hands on through molecule kits or through comparisons that you will be able to understand. I have ADHD and I have had to learn how to study and what methods work for me. I understand that there are struggles for everyone but that does not mean it has to stop you from learning.
I would have the lesson plan start by reviewing and finding where you struggle and then focusing on that and finding a way to connect it to the rest of the material.
These lessons are meant for middle and high school along with undergraduates focused in forensics and pre-medicine.
