About Preetha
I’m Preetha Menon from Palakkad, Kerala. When my brother and his wife migrated to Houston for work, their children struggled to understand and speak Malayalam. Even our immediate family, including my parents, faced challenges in communicating with them. Since my brother and his wife, both working in IT, had limited time to teach them the language, the responsibility naturally came to me. I began with small stories and interactive activities, making learning enjoyable. Over time, both children made remarkable progress—the elder one can now understand, speak, read small passages, and write simple sentences, while the younger one can recognize letters and read basic three-letter words. This experience made me realize that many Malayalis around the world still cherish their roots and their beautiful language. By providing structured Malayalam language training to their children, we can help them stay connected to their heritage and proudly say, "I am a Malayali."
