About Camilo

As a dedicated Latino educator with extensive experience in language instruction, I specialize in guiding English speakers into the rich and vibrant world of Spanish. My teaching philosophy centers on the idea that language is more than just vocabulary and grammar—it is a powerful tool for cultural connection and mutual understanding. I emphasize the historical context of Spanish-speaking countries, weaving in narratives of colonialism, independence movements, and modern socio-political developments to give students a deeper appreciation of the language’s evolution. By exploring the diverse traditions, music, literature, and daily life across the Spanish-speaking world, I help learners not only speak the language but also understand the people and values behind it. I believe that language serves as a bridge between cultures, fostering empathy, respect, and meaningful global relationships. Through immersive, culturally grounded lessons, I aim to inspire students to see Spanish not just as a subject, but as a gateway to new perspectives and lifelong connections.
