About Anna

I am passionate about classical antiquity and the enduring presence of ancient culture in the modern world. I hold a Master’s degree in Classics and Ancient History and have almost ten years of experience in the field. My research interests lie in classical reception, particularly the use of ancient motifs in contemporary street art, graffiti, and performance. I have also written a book chapter on classical reception in street-art performance. I have presented my work at various international conferences, allowing me to engage with scholars and broaden my academic perspective.

Alongside my research, I have a strong passion for ancient languages. I have studied Latin, Ancient Greek, Sumerian, Akkadian, and Coptic. This broad linguistic background has deepened both my understanding of the ancient world and my enthusiasm for sharing it with others.

About the lesson

I make Latin accessible, engaging, and tailored to each student’s goals. My teaching combines clear explanation of grammar and syntax with regular practice in translation, vocabulary, comprehension, and written work. I adapt lessons to the student’s existing knowledge, preferred learning style, and pace, ensuring that difficult concepts are broken down into manageable steps.

For students who prefer a traditional approach, I use established textbooks and structured exercises to build a secure foundation in grammar, accidence, and translation technique. I also offer a more immersive and creative route: learning Latin through an accessible crime story written in easy Latin. This approach allows learners to discover the beauty of the language through reading, suspense, and contextual vocabulary, while still developing a solid understanding of grammar.

Lessons typically last 60 minutes, although this can be adapted where needed. Each session usually includes a combination of revision, new material, guided practice, and clear goals for independent study.

My lessons are suitable for learners of different ages and levels, from complete beginners to advanced students. I can support students preparing for GCSE and A-level Latin, including grammar, translation, literature, vocabulary, and exam technique. I also help university students with Latin language work, translation, essay planning, research skills, and assignments in Classics and Ancient History. Equally, lessons are available for adults and independent learners who simply want to explore Latin and experience the richness of the language through a traditional course or an engaging Latin crime story.
