Most introductory level social studies are survey courses and are heavily embedded with specific factual points. These include people, places, things, dates, and ideas. These are the foundation of the History humanities. I find the learning style that fits the student and focus on that. This can be flash cards, questioning the student about the concepts, keeping them focused, and identifying survey content so that they can recall and analyze it. I teach on a high school and junior college level. I can assist with higher level courses but be aware that as you go up in the discipline, the subject specific content becomes greater. How you learn is as important as what you learn.
