About Laura
Hi there! I'm Laura Patriarca, but my students call me Ms. P.
I very recently graduated from Tufts University's Master of Arts in Teaching program. During my graduate program practicum at Arlington High School, I was hired s a full-time Chemistry teacher there. I love my job!
My bachelor's degree (from Stonehill College) is actually in Neuroscience, but I've always loved chemistry - especially its applications in biology.
My passions beyond science include running, baking, singing/playing piano, and caring for animals (I volunteer at a cat shelter in my free time).
Regardless of whether you love or hate chemistry so far, I'm happy to support you! With a solid effort and plenty of repetition, you are capable of conquering even the most challenging chemistry concepts. Let's do this!

Let's face it - chemistry can be challenging! As a student, I had to work really hard in my chemistry classes, but the feeling of accomplishment that I got from conquering a new topic was absolutely worth the effort.
In teaching chemistry, I find analogies to be really useful. If we can talk about abstract concepts in a way that feels relatable, understanding tends to come more easily.
I also like to put chemistry in context. We will always try to answer the question, "Why does this matter to my actual everyday life?"
