About Lourens

"Hi, I’m Lourens. With 9 years of hands-on experience in woodwork, I’ve developed a deep appreciation for the art of crafting with timber. I am interested in teaching because I want to pass on the traditional skills and safety techniques that make this craft so rewarding. My goal is to help you move from basic cuts to creating your own beautiful, finished projects. Whether you're looking to start a new hobby or refine your joinery, I’m here to guide you through every step of the process."

About the lesson

Master the Craft of Woodworking: From Raw Timber to Finished Art
Are you looking to trade screen time for shop time? Whether you are a total beginner who has never held a saw or a hobbyist looking to refine your joinery, I am here to help you build with confidence.
Why Learn With Me?
Woodworking is about more than just cutting boards; it’s about understanding the material. In our lessons, we won't just follow a blueprint—we will dive into:
Shop Safety: Mastering hand tools and power machinery without the fear factor.
Material Selection: Learning how to pick the right grain and species for your project.
Precision Joinery: Creating strong, beautiful connections like dovetails and mortise-and-tenon joints.
Finishing Techniques: From sanding secrets to applying the perfect oil or lacquer.
My Teaching Philosophy
I believe in "Project-Based Learning." Instead of boring drills, we will work toward a finished piece you can actually use in your home. My goal is to give you the "shop-sense" needed to troubleshoot problems and design your own future builds independently.
