About Maitias
I am a hard working, enthusiastic engineering student passionate about energy and the environment from Galway, coming from a sea-faring background. This has driven me to become very good at relevant core energy topics such as thermodynamics, fluids and combustion. I always strive to excel in my field and I believe that to make a mark in the fight against unsustainable living and climate change more people must become adept in these subjects. These are the fundamentals that all new and old energy systems technology is based on.

I believe in methodically studying a subject, learning from first principles to start and developing an understanding to further explore a topic. Lessons are aimed at engineering undergraduate students and can be held in NUIG or online. Developing an understanding of a topic is key in engineering - I don’t believe in rote learning at all. Personally I’ve always used visual queues such as diagrams, sketches and simulations to learn more from a topic. All lessons will be based on either current class work or real world examples which can be visualised.

I really enjoyed learning from Maitais. We studied the same fluid dynamics courses and he was always helpful and gave me a much better understanding of the topic when lectures just left me more confused. If all lectures were explained as well as Maitais’s inputs I would have learned so much quicker.
Maitias is a great teacher and breaks down fundamental concepts into bite-sized chunks to make explaining things easier. He really helped me with my Leaving cert honours maths study and my tech graphics.
