About Suzanne
I'm a graduate student at CU Boulder, just wrapping up a Master's degree in mathematics. I've tutored students from ages 8-35 on subjects from basic arithmetic to differential equations. Most of my tutoring experience has been in the past 4 years, but I've technically been tutoring since high school - I don't take payment in snack foods any longer though! My students have, overall, seen improvement in their understanding of the material along with more tangible results like improved grades (particularly dramatic when things like weekly quizzes are used as assessment), leading to increased confidence in their mathematical abilities.

I like to spend the first session ensuring I understand what the student's goals are and breaking them down into manageable pieces. If I'm working as a supplement to coursework, I spend at least part of each session looking at their most recent assignments/covered material so students have a chance to ask questions and stay on top of their current work, before delving into the backlog and trying to pinpoint the underlying weak spot in their mathematical knowledge or study habits. As students progress, I like to pose more challenging or theoretical questions in order to build critical thinking and deepen their understanding of mathematics, rather than just teaching rote algorithms for solving textbook problems.

If I need to travel for further than 25 miles, I'll be charging an additional $10/hour
Cancellations can be made with no cost up to 5 hours in advance. Shorter notice cancellations will be charged half of the hourly rate.
