About REBECCA

I am a dedicated and knowledgeable math tutor with a Bachelor of Science in Accounting and current graduate-level training toward a Master’s degree in Middle School Mathematics Education. My academic background provides me with both a strong mathematical foundation and the instructional skills needed to teach math clearly, effectively, and with purpose. I approach tutoring with professionalism, patience, and a commitment to student success. I understand that math can feel overwhelming or intimidating for many students, and I strive to create a supportive learning environment where questions are encouraged and confidence can grow. My goal is not only to help students improve their grades, but also to help them develop a deeper understanding of math and the ability to think critically and independently. With experience teaching a wide range of levels, I adapt each lesson to meet the individual needs, learning style, and goals of every student. Whether a student needs help strengthening foundational skills, preparing for exams, or advancing to more challenging material, I provide structured, thoughtful instruction designed to deliver lasting results. Students and parents can expect organized lessons, clear communication, and a respectful, reliable tutoring experience focused on measurable progress and long-term success.

As a math tutor, my goal is to help students truly understand math, not just memorize steps. With a Bachelor of Science in Accounting and current graduate training in middle school mathematics education, I combine strong content knowledge with effective teaching strategies tailored to how students actually learn.
I focus on breaking complex concepts into clear, logical steps and connecting math to real-world examples whenever possible. I adapt my instruction to each student’s learning style, pace, and goals, whether they need foundational support or advanced problem-solving practice.
Step-by-step explanations that build from what the student already knows

Visual models, examples, and guided practice

Real-world applications (especially from finance and accounting) to increase relevance

Active problem solving with immediate feedback

Review and reinforcement to ensure long-term understanding, not short-term memorization

I regularly check for understanding and adjust my approach as needed to keep lessons effective and engaging.
Quick check-in and review of previous material or homework

Introduction of new concepts with clear explanations and examples

Guided practice, working through problems together

Independent practice with support and correction

Summary and reflection, highlighting key takeaways

Optional homework or practice suggestions tailored to the student’s needs

Each lesson is flexible and customized based on the student’s progress and confidence level.
Strong math foundation backed by real-world accounting experience

Graduate-level training in effective math instruction

Ability to teach multiple levels, from foundational skills to advanced topics

Patient, supportive approach that builds confidence and independence

Focus on understanding why math works, not just how to get the answer
I work with students at nearly any level, including:

Upper elementary and middle school math

High school math (pre-algebra through advanced topics)

College-level or adult learners needing refreshers

Students who struggle with math or feel anxious about the subject

Students looking to strengthen problem-solving and critical thinking skills

Whether you need help catching up, staying on track, or getting ahead, my lessons are designed to meet you where you are and help you succeed.
