About Alex
I have a degree in Mathematics from the University of Florida and have been tutoring mainly math but also other subjects if needed for five years now. I look at math problems as a puzzle to be solved and know that usually there are multiple ways to solve this particular puzzle so it's best to keep an open calm mind. I have experience working with students ranging from kindergarten to calculus 1 and college test prep but I also possess knowledge beyond that.

My approach as a tutor is that math isn't hard it just needs to be broken down to easier pieces to understand. Most problems occur with foundational knowledge. So I like to ask the student their comfort level at each level of discussion and I like them to be honest because there is nothing wrong with needing help even I need help. Then gauging their understanding of the concept I'll give some examples that I will work on with them again asking at every level their comfort. Then finally I give them curated questions to try on their own to assess their understanding. At the end of the day clients care about results so they need understanding. I think what sets me apart from other tutors is that sometimes they lack the understanding especially in the STEM field that people just don't get certain subjects. This is where my experience working with all ages and all levels of understanding helps me identify how to best help because these sessions are here to best aid students.
