About Kim

I am currently a second-year medical student and previously graduated with my Master’s degree in Biomedical Sciences from Texas A&M University. With over six years of experience tutoring math and science to students in grades 5–12, I have developed a strong passion for education and helping students build confidence in their academic abilities.

I understand that challenging subjects can sometimes feel overwhelming, and I strive to make learning more approachable by breaking down difficult concepts into manageable steps. My goal is not only to help students improve their grades but also to develop their critical thinking skills, build effective study habits, and gain confidence in their ability to succeed independently.

As a current medical student with over six years of experience tutoring math and science to students in grades 5–12, I understand that every student learns differently. My tutoring approach focuses on creating a supportive, encouraging environment where students feel comfortable asking questions, making mistakes, and building confidence in their abilities.

I believe that understanding the why behind a concept is just as important as knowing how to solve a problem. Rather than relying solely on memorization, I break down difficult topics into smaller, manageable steps and use real-world examples, visual aids, and practice problems to reinforce understanding. I adapt my teaching methods to each student's individual learning style, strengths, and areas for improvement.

A typical lesson begins with reviewing concepts from previous sessions and identifying any questions or areas of difficulty. From there, we work through new material together, starting with guided explanations and examples before transitioning to independent practice. I encourage students to explain their thought processes so I can identify misunderstandings and help strengthen their problem-solving skills.

What sets me apart as a tutor is my combination of teaching experience, strong academic background, and genuine passion for helping students succeed. In addition to tutoring, I have experience working as a substitute teacher and working with students with learning disabilities and diverse educational needs. These experiences have taught me the importance of patience, flexibility, and finding creative ways to explain concepts. I recognize that a teaching method that works well for one student may not work for another, and I am committed to adapting my approach to help each student succeed. As a medical student, I also understand the importance of developing effective study habits, critical thinking skills, and a strong foundation in math and science.

My lessons are designed for students in grades 5–12, including those who need additional support with challenging concepts, homework assistance, test preparation, or simply want to strengthen their understanding and confidence. I welcome students of all learning abilities and strive to create a positive learning experience tailored to their individual needs. My ultimate goal is not just to help students improve their grades, but to give them the tools and confidence to become more independent, successful learners.
