About Alex
I attended the Science Academy of South Texas and have a Bachelor's in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. I did private tutoring while in high school and university in addition to serving as a Teaching Assistant in regular courses as well as for various summer programs.
I have worked with students between the ages of 8 and 35, from the US as well as abroad, in formal semester-long courses as well as one-on-one tutoring relationships.
I also spent the past year teaching English in Spain and am more than happy to work with ESL students!

In general, I believe it's best to customize the lesson format to each student's individual goals and current knowledge in the target subject. For example, in English classes, one student may want detailed critique of writing samples or help generating an outline for essay prompts, while an ESL student may simply want time spent practicing casual conversation.
For mathematics and computer science among other subjects, I have a wealth of teaching materials from previous courses and tutoring that help me generate activities unique to the needs of each student.
