About Emily
My name is Emily and I am a musician. I have been a professional musician since the age of 17, and have obtained a degree in Contemporary Music from the Institute of Contemporary Music in London. I have a Grade 8 Qualification in Vocals as well as a Grade 8 Qualification in Music Theory. I also have Grade 5 in Piano and can play the guitar.
My teaching style mixes both practical approaches with theoretical approaches, so contains a mix of studying through books and using piano to gain a better understanding of the content.
I am friendly and professional, and can help you gain a better understanding of music theory and songwriting in ways that you understand and feel confident in!

Lessons are offered over Zoom currently.
Lessons are offered weekday evenings and Saturdays throughout the day, and are typically one hour long, though can be longer if necessary and agreed - especially if you're looking to attend less frequently than weekly.
For music theory lessons: having studied and taken all music theory grades myself, I have direct knowledge of the learning criteria. We work in book alongside the ABRSM theory workbooks and I also play piano and use this throughout lessons to help students understand. I teach ABRSM music theory and can submit you for examinations in your local area. Lessons in ABRSM grades 1-5, and I offer lessons to any one of any age and understanding.
For songwriting lessons: having studied creative musicianship at the Institute of Contemporary Music, and being an artist, I have knowledge when it comes to songwriting. Each lesson is tailored to you, and what you want to achieve in your songwriting. We can look at different aspects and the goal is different depending on what it is you want to explore.
