About Rebecca

I am a lover of the Spanish language and I strive to do it justice. Simply being able to recognize words on paper does not do this language justice. So many words derive from cultural references, as a native speaker and someone who grew up with this culture, I am able to fill in the blanks to contexts. Learning doesn't have to be a chore. Especially with Spanish, so much art and media is in Spanish and it will open a completely different perspective to your everyday life; just by being able to sing along to a beautiful song in Spanish or watching a movie without subtitles. Spanish is part of who I am and it would be an honor to share that with others.

About the lesson

I am very good with kids I have baby sat children from ages 3-10 for five years. I also will graduate with a psychology bachelor's this summer, so I am very skilled with understanding people and memory specifically, so people are able to retain the most from what I teach. Although I have more experience with children, when it comes to teaching Spanish, I can do this for any ages. I've already taught some of my friends and friends parents Spanish. I start by showing them words so they can visualize what the word looks like when they try to say it. Spanish is very similar to English I would draw connections to this but obviously have a focus on how sentences are built different from English. My goal would be for the student to be able to hold a conversation in Spanish with a Spanish speaker because there are many around us. However, if the student requires the language for a class, I am well equipped in this as well, I have tried Duolingo for Spanish, as well as completing an AP Spanish course, so I know exactly what works and what doesn't.
