About Dewey
Hi, I’m Dewey! I’m a native Mandarin speaker from China and a student at Centre College, where I also have experience tutoring Chinese. I enjoy helping students feel more comfortable and confident using Mandarin, whether they are just starting out or already have some experience.
I’m friendly, patient, and easygoing, but I also take teaching seriously. I understand that every student learns differently, so I adapt my lessons to each person’s goals, pace, and interests. I especially enjoy helping students with pronunciation, conversation, vocabulary, grammar, and understanding Chinese culture.
As someone who has also learned another language, I understand the challenges that come with language learning. My goal is to create a relaxed and supportive environment where you can make mistakes, ask questions, and improve with confidence.

Hi, I’m Dewey! I’m a native Mandarin speaker and an experienced Chinese tutor. My teaching style is fun, easygoing, and encouraging, while still being professional and focused on helping you make real progress.
I like to adjust each lesson based on your level, goals, and interests. A typical lesson may include conversation practice, vocabulary, pronunciation, grammar, reading, and Chinese culture. I also use real-life examples so you can learn Chinese that is actually useful in everyday situations.
What sets me apart is that I understand how challenging learning a new language can be, so I try to make lessons comfortable and interactive instead of stressful. Whether you are a complete beginner, taking Chinese in school, preparing for a trip, or simply want to improve your speaking skills, I will help you learn at a pace that works for you.
