About Maria

Hello! I'm Maria, born and raised in the beautiful region of Andalusia, Spain. Growing up in a hardworking, middle-class family. Since the age of 15, I have taken on various jobs to help finance my education, an experience that has shaped my work ethic and drive. My passion for languages started early. I have always believed that learning languages opens doors to new cultures and enhances travel experiences. That passion led me to pursue an International Baccalaureate, where I focused on Spanish language and culture, Latin, ancient Greek, literature, music, art, and languages like English and French. Today, I speak Spanish, Italian, French, and English, and I am currently learning German and Portuguese, with the goal of becoming fluent in six languages. At 17, I moved to Granada to study for a degree in Modern Foreign Languages, specialising in Romance languages. My academic journey also took me to Florence on an Erasmus exchange, where I discovered my passion for teaching while working for the Town Hall of Florence as a Spanish teacher. From that moment on, teaching languages became my true calling. Throughout my career, I've continued to develop my skills, earning diplomas in e-learning design, completing an International Master's Degree in Spanish Language, Literature, and Culture with an Honourable Mention. Additionally, I have become a certified DELE examiner through the Instituto Cervantes, allowing me to evaluate official Spanish language exams. Recently I have finished a CIPD Level 5 Diploma in Organisational Learning and Development to further advance my career in training at corporate level. In 2017, I founded my own online language school, Language Me Online, which started in Liverpool but has since grown to reach students across 10 countries. I offer tailored lessons in Spanish, Italian, French, and English, as well as specialised courses such as business language training and exam preparation. My goal now is to continue expanding my services, collaborating with other talented teachers to ensure the highest quality education for our students. I believe that language learning can be a deeply personal and rewarding experience, and I strive to make each lesson engaging, supportive, and fun. Thank you for taking the time to learn more about me and my journey!

About the lesson

I believe that learning a new language is not just about mastering vocabulary and grammar—it's about discovering a new perspective and way of interacting with the world. My approach to teaching is entirely tailored to each student, ensuring that your unique learning style, goals, and pace are at the forefront of every lesson. I understand that language acquisition can be a long and sometimes challenging journey. That’s why my methodology is designed to provide the highest level of support and service throughout your time with me. My teaching approach is rooted in key learning methodologies, combining elements from: - Personalised Learning: Every student has different goals and preferences when it comes to learning a language. Whether you're preparing for an exam, improving conversational skills, or learning for travel or business, we tailor each lesson to fit your specific needs. - Communicative Language Teaching (CLT): We emphasise real-life communication and interactive learning, ensuring you can apply the language in practical, meaningful ways. My lessons are designed to help you use the language naturally, not just memorise rules. - Task-Based Learning (TBL): Through a series of structured activities and real-world tasks, you'll be able to immerse yourself in the language while focusing on practical outcomes, such as handling conversations, writing emails, or navigating everyday situations in the target language. - Scaffolding & Zone of Proximal Development (ZPD): I provide just the right amount of support, gradually removing it as you gain confidence and skills, allowing you to independently master more complex language tasks over time. - Blended Learning: In addition to one-on-one lessons, I integrate digital tools, multimedia resources, and interactive exercises to complement your learning, ensuring you can practice beyond the virtual classroom. You are in control of your learning experience—whether it's choosing the number of lessons, setting the day and time, or focusing on specific language skills. I am here to guide and support you wherever you are, adapting to your schedule and learning preferences. If you decide to continue your language journey with me, I would be truly honoured to help you achieve your goals. Together, we’ll make language learning an exciting, rewarding, and personalised experience!

Mari is an incredible Italian teacher!
I had the best experience learning Italian with her, and I couldn’t believe how quickly I was able to pick up the language. Mari made every lesson fun and engaging, and she always adapted her teaching style to suit my needs. Her passion for the language and culture really shines through, and it made learning so much more enjoyable. It always felt like we were friends learning a language together, which made the process so much more comfortable and relaxed.

Mari was patient, encouraging, and always made sure I understood everything before moving on. Thanks to her, I felt confident speaking Italian much faster than I expected. On my several visits to Italy, I was so happy to be able to speak fluently with the locals, even using slang! It made each trip more special, and my love for Italy grew even more.

If you’re looking for a teacher who is not only knowledgeable but also makes learning a joy, Mari is the perfect choice!:)

I am writing to highly recommend Maria, an exceptional Italian teacher who has greatly assisted me in my language-learning journey. As a student who progresses at a slower pace, I have found Maria to be incredibly patient, understanding, and supportive throughout our lessons.

With over a decade of experience in language teaching and a deep passion for linguistic and cultural education, I have had the privilege of working with students from diverse backgrounds and all levels of proficiency. My journey began during my degree in Modern Foreign Languages, where I discovered my love for teaching while working for the Town Hall in Florence as part of my Erasmus year. Since then, I have been committed to making language learning accessible, engaging, and personally rewarding for my students. I have worked in both academic and professional settings, including universities, secondary schools, corporate environments, and private lessons. My teaching experience covers Spanish, Italian, French, and English, as well as the creation of e-learning materials designed to suit a variety of learning styles. In every role, I have focused on providing personalised learning experiences that meet the specific goals and needs of each student. As the founder of Language Me Online, I now teach students from over 10 countries, offering customised language lessons that prioritise real-world communication. My teaching approach is student-centred and flexible, incorporating established educational methodologies such as Communicative Language Teaching (CLT), Task-Based Learning (TBL), and scaffolding, while integrating digital tools to enrich the learning experience. Throughout my career, I have remained committed to ongoing professional development, earning advanced qualifications including a Master’s Degree in Teaching Spanish Language, Literature, and Culture, and certification as a DELE examiner. These achievements, combined with my practical experience, enable me to deliver high-quality language instruction that is both adaptable and effective. I am proud to offer a learning experience that is tailored to each student's individual journey, supporting their broader goals—whether for academic achievement, career progression, or simply the joy of exploring new cultures through language.
