About Elissea
Hi! My name is Elissea, and I am a teacher candidate in Toronto with a passion for helping students feel confident and successful in their learning.
I have several years of experience working with children and youth in classrooms and childcare settings. These experiences have taught me the importance of being patient, encouraging, and adaptable to each student's individual needs.
As an English tutor, I create a supportive and welcoming environment where students feel comfortable asking questions, making mistakes, and learning at their own pace. Whether your child needs support with reading, writing, grammar, comprehension, vocabulary, or creative writing, I will work with them to strengthen their skills while building their confidence.
My goal is not simply to help students complete their work, but to help them understand why they are learning something and develop skills they can use independently. I believe learning should be engaging and enjoyable, and I strive to make every lesson meaningful, interactive, and tailored to the student.
I look forward to getting to know you and helping you reach your English learning goals!

My Approach as a Tutor
I believe that students learn best when they feel comfortable, supported, and confident in their abilities. As a teacher candidate with experience working with children in both classroom and childcare settings, I use a patient, encouraging, and student-centered approach to help learners develop their English skills.
My lessons are personalized to each student's needs, interests, and learning style. I can support students with reading, writing, grammar, vocabulary, spelling, comprehension, creative writing, and communication skills. Rather than simply providing answers, I guide students through the learning process by asking questions, providing examples, breaking concepts into manageable steps, and encouraging them to explain their thinking.
What a Typical Lesson Looks Like
A typical lesson begins with a short check-in or warm-up to review previous learning and identify what the student would like to work on. We then focus on a specific skill through explanations, examples, and interactive activities. Depending on the student's goals, this could include reading a short passage, working through grammar exercises, developing a creative writing piece, or practicing comprehension strategies.
The final part of the lesson is used to review what we learned, celebrate progress, and identify a small goal to work toward before our next session.
My goal
I strive to make English learning engaging, encouraging, and relevant to each student. I understand that students learn at different paces and may need different types of support, so I adapt my lessons rather than using a one-size-fits-all approach. I also believe that building confidence is an important part of learning. My goal is for students to leave each lesson not only with stronger English skills, but also with greater confidence in themselves as learners.
Who I Tutor
I primarily work with elementary and middle-school students, including students who need additional support with English language skills, homework, reading comprehension, writing, grammar, or building confidence in their academic work. I am happy to adapt lessons for different abilities, interests, and learning needs.
