About Jeff
I’m a PhD student at York University with eight years of university teaching experience at York University and Brock University.
I hold Master’s degrees in Philosophy and Studies in Comparative Literature and the Arts, as well as an Honors BA in Philosophy and Film Studies.
Much of my academic career has involved helping students understand complex material, develop arguments and communicate their ideas clearly through writing.
Whether you need help with one difficult assignment or want ongoing support developing your academic writing skills, I’ll meet you where you are and focus on practical improvement.

Sessions are built around the assignment, course or writing skill you’re currently working on. We can work together to:
• understand an assignment prompt
• develop a clear thesis statement
• organize ideas into a logical essay structure
• strengthen arguments and critical analysis
• improve clarity, flow and academic style
• review and revise drafts
• understand and respond to instructor feedback
• improve research and study skills
My goal isn’t to simply correct your work. I’ll help you understand why something is or isn’t working so you can become a stronger, more confident writer independently.
I work with high school, undergraduate and graduate students across English, humanities, and various other social science subjects.
